TTUHSC - SOM

We recently wrapped up production on another project with the TTUHSC. The School of Medicine was in need of a video to use for recruiting, promotion and to give potential medical students an in-depth view into their school. Initial meetings let to a concept that was based on interviews from currents students as well as the Deans of the various TTUHSC campuses. Interviews and b-roll shoot dates were set, the script was written, and we began production.

One of the most important aspects of each project we work on is to really get on the same page with our clients. As in this project, we educated ourselves in all areas of the TTUHSC. We now know the School of Medicine inside and out. Several meetings were held to ask as many questions as we could think of that would help our understanding of what our client wanted and needed.

Upon completion of the edit we then worked with the audio and video technicians that handle the classrooms the video was to be shown in during SOM interviews. We spent an afternoon tweaking the video and audio to ensure 100% quality playback on their system.

South Plains College – Tech Prep

We just wrapped up the final edit on yet another Career & Technical Education video for South Plains College.  Having strong ties to the college, we really enjoyed going back and getting a glance at all the great programs they have going on.  Enjoy!

Peoples Bank Lubbock

We had the pleasure to work with Peoples Bank to help them get a TV commercial on air that represents their company. They had specific goals in mind when we first met them and even had the scripts written in advance. We took their ideas and concept and ran with it. We shot and edited 4 total spots, 2 in english and 2 in spanish. They are currently running on KCBD in Lubbock and Telemundo.

The pre-production process consisted of concept/creative meetings with the client, shot list creation based on the script, and location scouting. We shot 2 afternoons to work with their schedule, lighting the inside scenes and shooting in full 1080p High Definition. As with any project we had to be flexible with changes on set that were unforeseen, all to refine the final product.

In post-production we took the raw video files and worked out several edits, going back and forth with the client via our password protected online client preview area. After settling on an edit we color-corrected the spot, worked with our voice over talents to refine their portion and did some basic animations of their logo on the tag out.

We had to recreate their logo from scratch in order build the animation. Also in the process we had to do some rotoscoping on the scene where the couple is walking by the for sale sign in the front yard. It had a telephone number that was incorrect. By the time we finished there wasn’t a trace of the phone number.

The last step in the process was mixing and mastering the audio. We found a track that fit the spots and sent it to our audio editing suite. They EQed the voice, mixed it with the audio and mastered to levels perfect for television. We delivered via FTP and tape to local stations for air.

Frenship HS - CTE

Frenship High School in Lubbock, Texas approached Studio 84 about spreading the word about their Career and Technical Education program. They needed a high quality video production that would show off what an outstanding educational program they offer. The first step in our process was to learn everything about their program so that we could understand what they wanted to accomplish with this video. After brainstorming ideas and developing overall direction, we started planning for the shoot.

We spent several days at Frenship shooting the different areas of study, working with the school schedule. We enjoyed working with Cecelia Jones who teaches classes in Frenship’s video production department. She provided us with a group of students that served as our production assistants. They were like sponges, soaking in as much information as possible.

The most challenging aspect of this education video promotional was how to appeal to a broad demographic audience. It needed to appeal to not only high school students but also the parents of these students. We felt that the program and the classes that were highlighted, promoted themselves and keeps the audience’s attention. We’ve heard several comments about how this program looks as if it’s for higher education school and not for high school.

All in all we enjoyed this challenging project and couldn’t have asked for a better client.
